REVIEW of the SEASON

With only forty boys reporting to the field to work for football coaches, Waters and Matthews are going to prove that a mere handful of willing boys can do more than a whole army without teamwork.

After a month of training the Kilgore High School Bulldogs went to Tyler to play Henderson at the fair grounds. At the final whistle the score remained the same as at the first of the game, 0-0.

This did not leave any hard feelings for the Bulldogs for they won the game with Jacksonville, October 6, 1934, to the tune of 13-12.

October 12 came around and it was time to play the Stephen F. Austin Freshmen. This game resulted in favor of the visitors to the sum of 12-0. Several of the star players received injuries.

One of the season's biggest games took place at Tyler on October 19, when the fighting and raring-to-go Bulldogs downed the strong Tyler Lions in one of the greatest upsets of the year in District 10. The Bulldogs had the game going in their favor until the last minute of the play. At the end of the game the final score resulted 13-6.

The next game of our schedule was played with Texarkana, October 26. A few bad breaks, a ragged brand of football and undecided officials caused the first conference loss of the Kilgore Bulldogs. The field was dusty and full of holes. The game was also played at night, and the first night game for some of the Bulldogs. The final score was: Kilgore, 18; Texarkana, 26.

The team that had never scored a point in any game this season, Gladewater, took advantage of our Bulldogs and tied the score 13-13. The Gladewater High School Bears were played at the Bear stadium in Gladewater, which they also dedicated that day.
