Look-Up Volunteers

USGenWeb's Policy on Lookups

The USGenWeb will not tolerate any copyright violations. Lookup requests should be limited to one or two names. Information given will be minimal, for example if it is a cemetery lookup,
the information will be the name of the cemetery and the dates on the headstone. Please do not ask for "everybody with X surname" or an entire family group, or for hardcopies to be mailed; the volunteers have
been asked not to comply with such requests.

Lookups will extend to searching the book to determine if the book would be helpful to you in your research. Should the book prove useful, we can provide the author's address and ordering information.

Swann Reid is willing to do local research for counties surrounding Gonzales County, Texas.
E-mail to her for particulars.

Beth Parsley does research in a 100-mile radius of the City of Gonzales. This would include the original area
of the DeWitt Colony - all or parts of the following counties: Caldwell, Comal, DeWitt, Fayette, Guadalupe,
Gonzales, Hays, Jackson, Victoria and Wilson.
She also does research in Calhoun, Karnes, Lavaca, and Bexar Counties and will go to Austin if need be.
Scope of search: available newspapers, census records, probate, tax, birth, death, marriage, land, court and
cemetery records. If a cemetery is within the above-mentioned radius, she will try to locate the headstone and take a
picture for the client should it be desired.
Since sometimes the most intense search is unfruitful, a report is rendered with a statement listing all
sources/places searched and the outcome.
Microfilmed records are not always very clear due to the age of the documents but she will always get
the best available copy for the client. Contact Beth for price quote and further information.

I will do 1880 census lookups. I have an 1880 TRANSCRIBED copy of the federal census from all the states and counties in the US. (These CDs are available from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City. The set of 56 cds costs 49.95.) It is a great set, even with a few errors that I found.
Please put the words LOOK-UP in the subject line of your email. If you do not, it may get accidently deleted. Should you not hear from me in about a three day time period, please resend the email. Linda

I will do free look-ups from the 1880 TX census. I know I will be bombarded with requests, so I will have to ask that you limit your request to 3 people. I have a complete (every name) index, so I can check for anyone, any age. Please provide me with first and last name, and year of birth if known. If you know the county please provide it also.
I also offer various census look-ups and other research assistance from the Allen Co. Library. They are the second largest genealogy library in the country with all census records for every state as well as tons of microfilms and published materials covering every state and county in the US. I have helped hundreds of people from all over the country with their research.
Please send any requests for look-ups directly to me at [email protected] so we don't clutter the list with responses. Include either "1880 TX census look-up" "Allen Co. help" in the subject line so I don't miss your email.
Let me know if you'd like a look-up. -- Rex Bertram, PO Box 651, Redkey, IN 47373
