The Pioneer Village Living History Center is a non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving our past by saving our historic buildings and pioneer way of life. From an 1830s single room log cabin to an 1870s cypress sided Church, the Village will provide a unique experience in learning about Texas history. This is a collection of restored buildings and a working Blacksmith Shop and Broom Factory which allows you to walk through the pages of history and relive the daily life of the people who shaped the Texas we know today.
There were immigrants who came to the wild free land of Texas and carved out a life for themselves and their families. Some of these brave leaders gave their life-blood at the Alamo. You are looking at and experiencing the same sights that greeted them each day. They actually lived in houses very much like these, and performed the tasks that you see being recreated for you at our special events. The people who either stayed through the conflict for independence or came later, made it through the Republic days and on into the statehood of the then largest, and still boldest state in the Union.
This is not just a recreated "old town". This is Old Gonzales and the way life really was in the nineteenth century. Join us in a walk back into time -- a journey back when -- -- --
