Evelyn Pranglin Galloway

Evelyn Pranglin Galloway was born on December 22, 1926, Pearsall, Texas, to Mae and Lester Pranglin. She went home to her lord Jesus, on Saturday, January 5, 2013. Evelyn lived in Pearsall all her life until August of 2011 when she left Pearsall to live in Irving with her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Dan Smith. Evelyn graduated from Pearsall High School. And then went to Southwestern University in Georgetown where she joined Phi Mu Sorority. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree at age 19. When World War II ended, she married Alexander Galloway, the love of her life, on July 9, 1946. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage until Alex died in May of 2005. Evelyn was an accomplished musician who played piano, directed the choir and sang in the choir for over 40 years at First United Methodist Church in Pearsall, She loved her church and all her church friends, She also joined her daughter, Beth, on an Emmaus Walk in 2002 and continued in the Third Day program. Additionally, Evelyn was respected teacher for 15 years in Pearsall. She taught English, Music and Spanish at several different grade levels. In her later years, Evelyn served on the Child Welfare Board in Frio County. Evelyn spent many years as a spectator and supporter of various sports activities, beginning with Beth and Melissa's tennis matches and then progressing to her grandchildren's football, basketball, tennis, and baseball games. She even spent several hot days in a golf cart watching her great-grandson, Travis Vick, play golf, sat on bleachers to watch great-grandsons, Jake and Preston Revis play tennis and was presented with a piano recital in her honor on her 86th birthday by Jake. She was a trooper!!!

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Dan Smith of Irving, Texas; grandchildren, Trey and Amanda Vick of Houston, Kelly Revis of Coppell, Sean and Sheala Smith of Dallas and Kristyn and Randy Bartley of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Jake and Preston Revis, Travis, Audrey and Trevor Vick, Cooper Pletz, Saige and Sawyer Smith and Banner and Piper Bartley. Also surviving her are: Gale and Connie Galloway of Austin, Bea Englett of Sugar Land and Blanche Galloway of Jackson as well as beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pearsall; the memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at First United Methodist Church of Pearsall. Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Pearsall or the charity of your choice.
