JOE GOOLSBY
It is with the deepest
regret that we record the death of Joe Goolsby, who passed from this earth on
Saturday morning after several weeks of suffering, to the land of the peaceful
and sublime. He is 40 years of age and a native of Oxford, Miss., land
came to Texas in 1876, where he engaged in farming near Harrisville. In
1886 he came to Temple and entered into business with W. A. Wilkeson, which
lasted until January, 1889. Since that time has been in the employ of W.
H. Landreth. He leaves a heart broken wife, a son and little daughter to
mourn his loss, and a host of warm friends, who will always keep a fresh place
in their memory for their once true friend Joe Goolsby. We extend
our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family. The following is handed to
us for publication.
Our Uncle Joe has left us.
His days of suffering are over;
His journey in life is ended,
He has gone to that beautiful
shore.
He has gone to the land of brightne(ss)
Where sorrow and suffering are not known;
Why should his friends be sorrowful
Why shoudl his loved ones mourn.
He has gone and left his loved ones,
To-night they are lonely and sad,
Thinking of days--before sickness,
death,
Came to their once happy home,
And summoned dear Joe to a peace-
ful rest
And to dwell near a heavenly throne.
For many long days he suffered
More than pen can write
All caused from spinal affection,
So they say, and I suppose they were
right.
May God care for his wife and children,
May they never know wont or care,
"Till the great ruler becons them
home
To meet their dear Joseph there."
