Mrs. Rosia (Lewis) P. Giles - Mrs. Rosia (Lewis) P. Giles was born on July 17, 1953
in Galveston, Texas to the parentage of Rosie Lewis and the late Willie Contee.
At an early age, Rosia united with the South Union Baptist Church in Marlin,
Texas and was an Usher. She was educated in the public schools of Marlin,
Texas and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.
After graduation, she later moved to Galveston, Texas. She was employed
with the St. Mary's Hospital as a surgical clerk. She was an active
member of the Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of
Usher Board No. 1, Mission No. 2, the Pastor's Aide and a Deaconess. She
was also a member of Forever Faithful Court No. 66 Heroines of Jericho - Prince
Hall Affiliation.
On July 1, 1994, she was united in marriage to Mr. Elmo Giles, Sr.
Rosia departed this earthly life on Friday, February 17, 1996 at her residence
in Texas City, Texas. She will be remembered for the warmth of her
beautiful smile.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Elmo Giles, Sr. of Texas
City; her mother, Rosie Russ of Marlin, Texas; her daughter, La Keisha Poullard
of Palestine; stepchildren, Elmo Giles, Jr. of Dallas and Joyce Darnell Landry
of Galveston; sisters, Bernice Johnson of Waco, Betty Allen of Marlin and Raena
Hughes of Baltimore, MD; brothers Larry Lewis, Verlon Lewis, both of Marlin,
Tommy Lewis of Los Angeles, CA. George Russ and Raychell Russ both of Baltimore
MD; devoted friends; The Raven family, Rudolph, Beverly, George and Lillian;
grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Interment: Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas.
