Erath County Man Heard of Family
Active in Texas Educational
Circles.
C. E. Ferguson, age 78,
father of A. C. Ferguson, former superintendent of Marlin public schools, died
at his in Stephenville Thursday. He had lived in Erath county 72
years and was the father of five Texas college officials.
Three if his sons are deans, A. C.
Ferguson holding that position with the East Texas State Teachers College at
Commerce; G. O. Ferguson of John Tarleton College, Stephenville, and T. E.
Ferguson, with Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College, Nacogdoches, while
Miss Nettie Ferguson is an instructor of fine arts at John Tarleton.
Other survivors of deceased include his widow, two sons and two daughters.
A native of Missouri, Mr. Ferguson moved
to Texas at the age of five. He claimed the distinction of not having been
out of Erath county more than a dozen times since establishing his residence
there.
Funeral services for Mr. Ferguson were
held at Stephenville this afternoon with burial in the Stephenville cemetery.
Mrs. Frank Peacock, Jr., is a granddaughter
of deceased.
