LeRoy Eakin, 76, a retired
Waco policeman, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at
Wilkirson-Hatch Chapel, the Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Private
graveside services will be at Waco Memorial Park.
Mr. Eakin was born Sept. 16, 1914 in
Chilton and was reared and attended school in Waco, where he lived most of his
life. He married Dorothy Ellen Thompson on Jan. 6, 1933, in Waco.
He was a member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ellen
Eakin of Waco; a son, William LeRoy Eakin of Waco; two sisters, Ivy Mae Pharr
Bacon of Akron, Ohio, and Rethel Pharr Eakin of Washington, D.C.; three
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family has designated the Park Lake Drive
Baptist Church or Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas for memorials.
