Wayne Dennis
GROESBECK -- Mr. Wayne Dennis, 56, of Groesbeck, went
to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 after a brave battle with
cancer. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at
Groesbeck Funeral Chapel with James Burns officiating. Burial will
follow at Criswell Cemetery.
Wayne was born Aug. 12, 1947 in Clifton, Texas, to
Ollin and Clara (Polly) Dennis. He attended Clifton schools and after
graduating from Clifton High School, he attended TSTC and received training to
become a Diesel Mechanic. He was employed by DARR Equipment of Waco for
31 years. Wayne served his country in Vietnam during 1969 and 1970.
He married to Nancy Downes on Nov. 16, 1990 in McLennan
County. Wayne was a member of the Smith Bend Baptist Church. He
enjoyed ranching, farming, and had a love for his animals as well as the
outdoors.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Dennis of
Groesbeck; mother, Clara (Polly) Dennis of Clifton, Texas; sister, Carol and
husband Dr. J. C. Blewett of Clarksville, Tennessee; seven nieces, four
nephews, and one great-nephew.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Horn, Bob Horn, Gayland
Downes, Greg Downes, Randy Hunter, Anthony Mynar and David Hegar. Honorary
pallbearers will be friends and co-workers from DARR Equipment/Holt Cat and
David Broxton.
His strength, courage and positive outlook will leave
a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him.
