Joe Degrate
January 9, 1944 - September 30, 2006

     Joe Degrate, age 62, of Westover, Texas, died Sunday, September 24, 2006, at Westover.

     Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2006, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dave Autry, Jr., pastor of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, Olney, Texas and the Rev. Angus Thompson, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, Texas, officiating. Interment will follow in the Westover Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.

     Joe was born January 9, 1944 in Marlin, Texas to the late Sidney Degrate, Sr. and Pearlie Mae (Hines) Degrate. He and Hazel Collins were married April 2, 1962 in Seymour, Texas. He was a rancher. He was a member of the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, financial secretary, and secretary of Brotherhood. He moved to Baylor County in 1960 from Falls County, Texas.

     He is survived by his wife, Hazel Degrate of Westover, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Loundon and Anita Collins both of Wichita Falls, Texas; four brothers, Booker T. Degrate of Seymour, Texas, Sidney Degrate of Snyder, Texas, Jimmy Degrate of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Simpson Degrate of Killeen, Texas; two sisters: Katie Mae Harrell and Jean Carter both of Meredian, Texas; five grandchildren, Quentin McPeters, Nicole McPeters, Christopher Wofford, Keitral Collins and Daneisha Brandon; a host of family and friends, nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

     The family will receive guests Friday evening from 6 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
