MARLIN -- Ruth Thomas Davison, 101, of Reagan died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at
a local nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Adams
Funeral with the Rev. Pam Rose-Beeler officiating. Burial will
follow at Waite Cemetery in
Reagan.
Mrs. Davison was born Nov. 3, 1896 in Lanham, Texas, in Hamilton County to
James William and Martha Ann Adams Thomas. She attended schools in
Needmore and Lanham and graduated from Hamilton High School. She attended
college at North Texas Normal College in Denton. She taught school in
Pattsville and Hico before coming to Reagan to teach in 1919.
She married Hugh Tankersley Davison of Reagan Nov. 16, 1920, at her parents'
in Lanham. She taught one year after marrying and did substitute
teaching for a number of years. She was an active member of Methodist
Church of Reagan and was always interested in her community and political
affairs. She was president of the P. T. A. Her hobbies were
quilting, sewing and gardening.
Mrs. Davison was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Davison, on April 30,
1977, three brothers, and a sister. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. H.
T. (Ruth Ann) Torgerson of Marlin; a son, Hugh Thomas (Tom) Davison of Bryan;
five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
