JOHN
B. DUNLAP
March 31, 1934 - November 30, 2005
John B. Dunlap, 71, of Reagan,
Falls Co., Texas, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Services were held Friday, December 2, 2005
at the Eastside Church of Christ in Marlin with John Sirman and Scott Strothers
officiating. Graveside services were
also held Friday at the Salado Cemetery in Salado, Texas with James Haney and
Joe Baisden officiating.
John was born March 31, 1934 in
Salado to Ben and Kathleen Walker Dunlap. He was a retired rancher having
worked for C. B. Hodge Cattle Co., Double EE and Hall Ranches. He was a
resident of Reagan for 35 years moving from Belton, Texas.
John was a member of the Eastside
Church of Christ and was a 1953 graduate of Belton High School where he played
football. He loved tending to his
roses, playing dominoes, enjoyed watching his grandson play football and his
granddaughter when she was cheerleading. He loved to run the hounds on fox and wolf hunts. He was an expert in BBQ'ing, but most of all
he loved his family and doting over his grandchildren. He married his sweetheart,
Jean McBeath on December 27, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Belton.
His parents and a brother, Neely
Joe Dunlap, who died in 1998, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Jean
Dunlap of Reagan, Texas; son, Ben Dunlap and wife JoEllen of Riesel, Texas;
daughters, Amy Swinnea and husband Pokey of Reagan, Texas, Kathy Downes and
husband Gayland of Odds, Texas Community; grandchildren, Kelli and Sarah
Swinnea, Mindy, Wesley and Ashton Dunlap, Jessica, Rebecca and Melissa Downes,
special sisters, Janelle Burson of Salado, Dorothy Dunlap of Temple, Texas,
sisters-in-law, Dora Reedy of Temple, Texas, Thelma Raney of Belton, Texas,
Jamie Whitley of Belton; brother-in-law. Daron M. Reedy Sr., of Temple, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers included John
E. Moore, Dr. John Paul Smith, Herman "Coffee" Willis, and all of his
hunting buddies.
The family suggests that memorials
be made to the Eastside Church of Christ, 4994 E. Hwy 7, Marlin, Texas 76661 or
your favorite charity.
Adams Funeral in Marlin was in
charge of arrangements.
