Marlin, Falls County, Texas

William Robert Duff, 78, of Marlin, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008.
A memorial service, celebrating his life, will be held at 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Adams Funeral Chapel with The Reverend Thomas
Q. Robbins officiating.
Robert was born in Shreveport, LA to Hasell
and Oscar Duff, but grew up in Palestine, TX where he graduated high school.
Robert, as he was affectionately known, was a proud member of the United
State Navy, and following completion of service for the United States of
America; he earned a business degree in 1952 from Southwestern University in
Georgetown, TX.
While at Southwestern, he joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and met a
Tri-Delta named Marilyn Hancock. For 55 years, she was, and is, the love of his
life.
Following college, he put his business degree to work as a furniture
representative for William-Volker. Later, he opened a retail furniture store in
Hamilton, TX that was in business for 25 years. While living in Hamilton, he made
many life long, and wonderful friends. Robert was also a Master Mason at one of
the oldest Lodges' in the state, the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #31.
Robert and Marilyn were very blessed to have three beautiful children,
Randolph M. Duff, Robert S. Duff and wife, Nelda, and Diane D. Hunt and husband
Shawn.
Blessings continued his way with the birth of his grandchildren, Caleb
Duff (who gave him his "Papoo" name), Dustin Duff, Jessica Duff,
Scott Duff, Duff Hunt, Daxon Hunt and Dane Hunt, Ethan and Erin Duff made sure
his quiver was full by being his great-grandchildren.
Because he did not get a chance to say
goodbye, Duff Hunts wants everyone who reads this to know that
"Papoo" was his best friend, and, Duff and his brothers Daxon and
Dane love him more than anything.
"But one thing I do, forgetting what is behind and straining toward
what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has
called me heavenward in Jesus Christ". (Phil. 3:13-14).
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be made to the
First United Methodist Church, 411 Coleman, Marlin, TX 76661 or the Stranger
Cemetery Fund, % Bill Fairbairn, 151 Coleman, Marlin, TX 76661, or your
favorite charity.
Adams Funeral of Marlin was in charge of arrangements.
