BESSIE BURKES

Ms. Bessie Mae Barganier Burkes, age 90, of Marlin, passed away Sunday, June 13, 1999 at Falls Community Hospital.  Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Burkes was born at Cedar Springs in Falls County September 23, 1908, the first daughter of C. E. (Mr. Genie) and Leona Watkins Barganier.  After graduating from Cedar Springs school, she married Leonard Burkes.  They lived in Houston where Mrs. Burkes was a homemaker.  After being widowed, Mrs. Burkes moved to Marlin and for the last five years has been a resident at Elmwood Nursing Center.  She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Marlin.

Survivors include a sister, Lorene Barganier Anding of Marlin and several nieces and nephews.

Adams Funeral of Marlin was in charge of arrangements.
