Mrs. J. S. Bruce
Dies Monday;
Rites Wednesday
Mrs. J. S. Bruce, 96, a
former Moody resident, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday in a Temple hospital after a
long illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hewett
Funeral Home. The Rev. J. W. Gill of the Little River Methodist Church will
officiate. Burial will be in the Greathouse Cemetery.
Mrs. Bruce was born in
Kentucky in 1867 and came to Texas in 1879. The family lived near Sherman.
After her marriage to J. S. Bruce, they moved to Central Texas and lived in
Bell and McLennan counties. Her husband died in 1935 and a daughter in 1915.
She is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. W. R. Pass of Temple and Mrs. N. H. Parker of Fort Worth; four
sons, J. C. Bruce of Temple, J. S. Bruce and Ballard Bruce of Bakersfield,
Calif., and Malcolm Bruce of Salinas, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 21
great-grandchildren.
