Rev. Pat Leach Dies


    Rev. Pat Leach, veteran Methodist preacher and former resident and pastor at Big Hill, died Wednesday night.  Rev. Leach held his first pastorate at Big Hill after coming to Texas as a young man from Alabama.  He has many relatives and countless friends both around Big Hill and all over the county.  He has held pastorates in various points in Central Texas and has been at Hillsboro for the past three years.  Rev. Leach had been ill for some time and his death was not unexpected.  Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Big Hill.

    Cotton is opening up fast at Alto Springs and inside of a week lots of farmers will be picking.

X-All Highway Meet Held.


    A good representation from Limestone, Freestone, Falls, and Robertson counties gathered at Bremond Monday afternoon for the second meeting of the X-All highway association.  The purpose of the association is to hasten the completion of a paved highway from Dallas to Houston and to encourage travel over this route.

    Mr. and Mrs. E. Baresch returned Thursday of last week from a visit with their son, B. P. Baresch and family who live at Rapid City, S.D.  They reported a very pleasant trip and most enjoyable visit, leaving their son and his family in good health and doing nicely.

    O. A. Barton and family are this week moving to 2600 Lasker Ave., Waco, where they will make their for the present.  Mr. Barton is now connected with Downs & Ferrell in the land and Insurance business, where he will be glad to meet his friends at any time.

    The of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wieting of Sunny Meadow Farm, was the scene of a joyous festive family reunion an August 18th.  The day began with important preparations and the coming of various members of the Wieting family.  Twenty members made up the family gathering; six sons, three daughters; two son-in-laws, two daughter-in-laws and five grandchildren.
