TEXAS HEROES BODIES to be
MOVED TO STATE CEMETERY

Monuments to Be Placed Over
Graves of Various Ones Deserv-
ing in History.

       Austin, Texas, Aug. 17.--After August 22 the state will begin spending about $25,000 to move the bodies of early heroes to the Arlington of Texas, the state cemetery Austin, and to erect monuments over the new graves, and over the graves of other notables of the republic, whose bodies will not be brought to the capitol.
       The outlay will be about $450 per hero.  The work of finding the abandoned graves and removing the bodies to Austin is being done by the non-salaried state historical and and (sic) landmark board, of which L. W. Kemp of Houston is chairman.

Bodies to be Removed.

       Under the appropriation bill effective August 22, the following was authorized:
       David Spaangler Kaufman's body will be brought from the congressional cemetery at Washington and reburied here at a cost of $550, including a monument.
       David Thomas' body will be brought from an unmarked grave in Zavala county and reburied at a cost of $450, including monument.
       The body of Randal Jones will be moved from the Fort Bend county
family cemetery.
       John W. Bunton's body will be brought from an unmarked grave in Hays county.

Other Heroes.

       Josiah Wilbarger's body will be brought from an abandoned cemetery in Bastrop county.
       Joel W. Robinson's body will be brought from Fayette county.
       A monument will be erected over the grave of Mary Houston at Independence, beside the grave of her husband, Sam Houston.
       Other monuments will be placed over the grave of Lorenzo de Zavala, Harris county; over the grave of George W. Hockley at Corpus Christi; William J. E. Heard, Chappell Hill; William M. Logan, West Colombia; John A. Wharton, Houston; W. B. Ochiltree, Jefferson; Robert M. Coleman, Freeport; Henry Karnes, San Antonio; Thomas William Ward, state cemetery; Rev. Nathan T. Byars, Brownwood; John K. Allen, Houston; Benjamin B. Goodrich, Anderson; George C. Childress, Galveston; Richard Anderson, Bexar county.
       Of this list of Texas heroes, counties are named for Andrews, Childress, Kaufman, Jones, Wilbarger, De Zavala, Hockley, Brown, Wharton, Ochiltree, Karnes, Ward.
