SCHOOLMASTERS CLUB TO
CONVENE NEXT IN MARLIN

State High School Supervisor Makes
Talk at Groesbeeck
Luncheon

Marlin was chosen as the next meeting place of the Central Texas Schoolmasters Club at its session in Groesbeeck Saturday, the assembly to be held here Saturday, December 5, states W. T. Betts, Marlin High school principal, who attended.

Formed at a meeting in Waco last month, the organization holds monthly sessions, about 40 superintendents and principals from schools in this section of the state being present at Groesbeeck.

The session opened at noon with a luncheon, H. O. Whitehurst, superintendent of Groesbeeck schools, presiding as toastmaster, with A. M. Blackmon, chief supervisor of high schools for the department of education at Austin, being the principal speaker.

Mr. Blackmon expressed an optimistic view in regard to finances of public schools, insofar as the state apportionment is concerned, Mr. Betts said.

The speaker also outlined certain changes in classification and certificates of affiliated high schools, which are expected to prove quite a step forward in raising the standards of scholarship.

A round table discussion followed of various matters of interest to school men.
