The News From Lott
(Lott Post)

Lott received its first bale of the 1931 cotton crop Tuesday afternoon when J. T. (Pat) Carter brought into town a load of the "fleecy staple."  It was ginned by Farmers Gin Company and weighted 512 pounts.  It was weighed by O. U. Chumbley at the yard.  The bale was classed middling 15-16 inch staple; sold to W. G. Ruble and brought 7 1/2 cents per pound to the grower.  It was raised by Carter on a farm about three miles south of town.  A premium totaling to the amount of $23.95 in merchandise and part cash was made up by the citizens of Lott for Carter.
