FLOCK OF CRANES SIGHTED
OVER MARLIN FLYING WEST

One Theory Expressed They Were
Migrating to Pacific From
Florida

Flying due west, a flock of birds said to be cranes was observed passing over Marlin at 7:50 a.m. today.  They were traveling in a perfect formation apparently about 400 feet high.

Winging along with the body at an angle which put the sun full on their white backs, in contrast with the black tips of their wings, they attracted interest of many people who had never seen cranes in this area.

It was the opinion of observers that they were cranes, one theory expressed being that they were migrating from the everglades of Florida to the Pacific coast.  Anyhow, it was something unusual hereabouts, as only feathered air travellers, ducks and geese, fly north to south and south to north with the shifting seasons.
