       P. W. Wheelis, age 81, died at the family residence, 313 North Carpenter street, Mart, Thursday morning at 9:25 o'clock following an illness of many months that was climaxed by the final attack beginning about two weeks ago.  Funeral services were announced for three o'clock Friday afternoon at the Mart Baptist church, conducted by Rev. A. C. Donath with interment in Kirk cemetery.  Deceased was a prominent pioneer of the Mart and Kirk communities.
       Quite a number of representatives attended Thursday the third quarterly conference for Mart, Big Hill, Ben Hur, Prairie Hill, Riesel and Kirk, holding their sessions at the Mart Methodist church.  Rev. C. M. Crowe, pastor of St. John's church, Waco, preached at 11 a.m.  After the preaching service, a basket lunch was served in the dining room of the church under direction of Mrs. E. P. Littlepage.  Rev. A. D. Porter, presiding elder of the Waco district, was in charge of the service.
