MARLIN MAN MADE COLONEL
BY GOVERNOR OF OKLAHOMA

Their Acquaintance Began as Young
Men in Navarro County
Years Ago.

Tom Gilbert of Marlin has been commissioned a colonel on the staff of Governor W. H. ("Alfalfa Bill") Murray of Oklahoma, the official certificate arriving this week.

Mr. Gilbert was associated with Governor Murray when both as young men resided in Navarro county.  Even in those early days, Governor Murray had political aspirations which had the staunch support of Mr. Gilbert.

It is in recognition of an acquaintance that began then ripening into a friendship continuing to the present day that the Oklahoma governor has remembered and honored the Marlin man.
