TEXAS CHAMBER DIRECTOR

President Says Members of Board
Reflect Optimism at Dallas
Meeting.

G. W. Glass of Marlin was elected one of six directors at large of the East Texas Chamber of Commerce at the semi-annual meeting of the board of directors of this organization at Dallas Wednesday, over which Dr. N. D. Buie of Marlin, president of the regional body, presided.  Dr. Buie was accompanied to Dallas by E. C. Smith of Marlin.

"In planning financing of the organization for the coming year, members of the board reflected an optimism that was highly encouraging,"  Dr. Buie said today in commenting on results of the meeting.

Directors at large named, in addition to Mr. Glass of Marlin, were Gus Taylor of Tyler, J. L. Greer of Denton, J. S. Bonner of Houston, H. A. Olmstead of Dallas and H. G. Black of Galveston, the latter city having recently become affiliated with the East Texas Chamber.  P. T. Sanderson of Trinity was named a director for district No. 6 to succeed the late Judge Hayne Nelms, and E. L. Kurth of Lufkin was elected vice president of district No. 5, succeeding John Seal, Jr. of Jasper, resigned.

Representatives of the six districts in East Texas pledged themselves to complete the quotas for all counties before December 1.

Those attending the meeting were guests of J. W. Carpenter of Dallas at luncheon.

A series of district conferences were decided upon for the furtherance of the balanced farming program and to study ways to replace cotton with other crops.
