ADOPTION of BOND PROPOSALS
WILL NOT RAISE TAX RATE

City Council Issues Statement to Voters
Anent Park and Street
Improvement Plan.

Referring to the pending proposals for a municipal park and street extension improvement the following statement was issued Friday.

Street Improvement Extension.

This is a plan to improve by gravelling (sic) the lateral and cross streets
that are now unimproved.  There are many of these, all important to the people who reside upon them and to the city at large.  All our citizens are taxed for our street improvement so far, but not all are getting direct benefit from the tax they pay.  The proposal now is to gravel the streets outside the paved area, and to connect with the same.  This will help all, and it will not add anything to the tax rate.

For Municipal Park in Marlin.

We believe it is generally admitted Marlin needs a public park.  We can now make provision for it without an increase in the tax rate.  We believe that now is the best time to secure a park while ground is available and may be gotten on reasonable basis.
Land, gravel, and labor is now available at reasonable prices for these enterprises, and if you authorize them we shall do our best to secure for you the worth of the money expended.
The amounts needed for these purposes are:
       For Street Improvement Extension, $25,000.
       For Municipal Park, $15,000.
Bonded indebtedness has been reduced in last two years sufficient to allow issuance of bonds for above (all most all of line missing) stated, with-(missing) the tax rate.
       Very respectfully,
(Signed)          J. M. Kennedy, Mayor,
                    C. A. McCoy,
                    W. E. Kyser,
                    A. B. Johnson,
                    A. G. Hendrick,
                    J. M. Fullinwider,
                    H. G. Rush,
                           Aldermen.
