A. and M. EX-STUDENTS
HOLD LUNCHEON IN MARLIN

Member of Class of '51, Resident of
Marlin, Makes Talk
on Program

Featured with a talk by R. E. L. Tomlinson, of the 1881 class, and Dutch Hohn of 1912, now agricultural agent of Washington county, a luncheon was held by ex-students of the Agricultural and Mechanical College at the Majestic hotel today.  Dan Clinton, agricultural agent of Falls county presided.  Rev. W. H. Matthews gave the invocation.

A large number of ex-students attended and went on record as favoring a similar luncheon for San Jacinto each year.  C. S. Souther of Rosebud was chosen to preside at the meeting in 1932.  Dr. J. A. Mercer of Chilton represented the oldest class in attendance.  He graduated in 1879.

"I love every brick in the old walls at A. and M., every square foot of its ground," said Mr. Tomlinson.  "For fifty years I have watched it grow from a school of four campanies of students to one of 3000.

"To me, every man who attended the old school is a brother.  We are all bound together with a brotherhood and I am proud to be in it.  Years ago when I had a son I made a resolution that my boy should go to A. and M.
I made good and he made good, and is now in Dallas, loyal to A. and M., one hundred per cent."

Mr. Hohn spoke griefly and said that for the rest of his life he would remember Mr. Tomlinson because to him an A. and M. man was just liek a brother.  "I don't know why the men feel that way about it--whether it's the eating together in the old mess hall, the military life or somethign else."  He emphasized the importance of the ex-students association and the luncheon, which are in some places held weekly.

The luncheon was brought to a close by singing the A. and M. theme
song, C. C. Braden of Jefferson playing the accompaniment.

Among the visitors was Miss Gladys Young, demonstration agent of Washington county.
