Water Mains Ordered.
-----

The city council through the secretary and the water committee, have ordered 6000 feet of 8-inch pipe for the waterworks extension mains.  The order was placed with a Chattanooga firm through their state agent, R. W. Finley at Austin.  The price paid was $36.40 per ton.
The pipe made by the state foundry was considered, but the decision was reached that the Chattanooga pipe was cheaper by reason of being smoother and equally as good in other respects.  The price is f.o.b. Marlin.
The new mains will connect with the present water mains at the Sewall and Martin corner in North Marlin.  The amount ordered will be more than is needed for this purpose and that left over will be used in extending the mains in the city proper.
