-----
Thanksgiving In Marlin.
The day of
Thanksgiving as set apart by the proclamation of the president and the governor
in keeping with a time honored custom was observed to some extent in Marlin.
Union
services were held at the Methodist church, the sermon being delivered by Rev.
M. T. Andrews. The service was appropriate to the day celebrated and was
attended by a very good number of people.
The
schools dismissed for the day and the children enjoyed the holiday as best they
could considering the unfavorable weather conditions.
Some of
the stores closed at the noon hour to permit the proprietors and employes (sic)
to enjoy their Thanksgiving turkey.
There were
many family dinings, to which friends were invited to join in giving thanks to
an All Wise Being for a plentitude (sic) of blessings and to do full justice to
the turkey and accompaniments.
