To The Democrat:

Reagan, Aug. 26.--Pete, the ten-year-old son of Cornelius Summers, colored, was shot in the head with a shotgun yesterday afternoon by a son of Frank Davis, white.  The shooting occurred at the house of Summers on the Ike Crouch place two miles from Reagan.
Cornelius Summers had gone to Marlin, leaving the boy at home.  The Davis boy went over to the summers house and the two boys engaged in playing together.  No one else was there at the time and the statement of the Davis boy is to the effect that the shooting was accidental.  Portions of the load from the gun penetrated the brain and while the boy was alive today it is not believed he can recover.

Several bales of cotton has been sold in our town this season, bringing a good price.  Seed are also worth a good price which helps the farmers to forget the short crop.
