NEGRO CUTTING AFFRAY.

-----

Rev. Jim McInham Uses Knife on

Mat Wadkins.

Mat Wadkins, a well known negro laborer, was stabbed in the side Saturday evening about six o'clock by "Rev." Jim McInham.

The cause of the fight is stated to have related to domestic affairs of the two negroes.

The Wadkins negro was taken to the office of Dr. Allen where the wound was sewed up.  The knife made an ugly wound, bit it is not fatal.

McInham is a country preacher who lives northeast of town and expounds the word to a country church.

After the cutting he disappeared, but showed up at the court house Monday morning.

He says that Mat struck him a heavy blow (--) the left eye, which member shows evidence of the blow.  Says he was eating pecans with his knife when Mat came up and after some words struck him, when he (McInham) cut Mat with the knife.
