JUDGE RICE IS NAMED
-----
SUCCESSOR TO JUDGE EIDSON AS
ASSOCIATE JUSTICE.
-----
Appointment Is a Just Recognition
Of Merit.
-----

The people of Marlin were highly pleased Saturday ight when information came from Austin that Judge B. H. Rice had been selected by Gov. Campbell to succeed Judge Eidson, resigned, associate justice on the court of civil appeals for this district.
Judge Rice's name was formally presented to the governor by the members of the Marlin bar in a telegram sent Saturday morning and by similar telegrams from the attorneys of Milam and Robertson counties.  Geo. H. Carter wa the only member of the Marlin bar present.
While in no wise disparaging the merits, ability and claims of the two other worthy citizens and able lawyers, the appointment of Judge Rice comes as a just recognition of ability, a conscientious adherence to duty as a public official and as a private citizen, and is the source of great pleasure among his people who have known him intimately and well for many long years.
