FIREMAN'S PICNIC JULY FOURTH
-----
Marlin's Volunteers Will Invite the
Neighbors to Join Them.
-----

The Marlin volunteer fire department is preparing to have a big celebration on July 4.  It will be in the form of a picnic and basket dinner.  Committee appointed by Chief Carter to have charge of the arrangements, appoint all other committees, etc., are B. F. Foster, John S. Groves and Oscar Finley.
At night a big fireworks display will be pulled off on the public square and a ball given at the park.  It is the intention of the department to give an event that has had no equal in Marlin in recent years.  Firemen from Waco and other neighboring cities will have a special invitation to join in the festiuities (sic).
Committee to solicit contributions for the dinner, baskets, etc., will be appointed at once and arrangements will have been completed by the regular meeting, the second Tuesday in June.  The committee hopes to have the approval of all, as the department is anxious to make the ocasion a banner day for the department and for Marlin.
With the aid of the fire boys, Assistant Chief Foster is renovating the upper part of the fire station, putting it in good shape.  They are painting it, placing new seats and otherwise improving same so that it will be much more attractive than formerly.  With the help of the enterprising people of Marlin, they will be in better shape than ever to cope with the fires in 1907 or any other year.
