THE MARLIN DEMOCRAT
Eighteenth Year - Number 42
Marlin, Texas, Wednesday, October 16, 1907
-----
The Dengue Strikes The Democrat.
-----

The Democrat is somewhat below its standard today on account of the "dang you" fever.
Just as our force were hoping that they would escape, the foreman was embraced by the monster and one or two others have strong symptoms.
We do not like to make excuses but sometimes it is necessary and this is one of the times.  The Democrat is likely to be short of its usual amount of reading matter for a day or two, but our readers may rest assured that we are doing the best we can by them.  And in saying this, we express the sentiments of the entire force who are ever faithful to their work and always take a pride in presenting The Democrat in as attractive appearance as possible under the circumstances.
