       Connell Calls for Bids for Con-
struction of Dam.

       The City Council in adjourned session this morning accepted the report of the committee ranking an examination of the character of earth in the base of the of the lake property.  The committee reported same suitable for the purpose of holding water and supporting a proper dam. It was ordered that the balance of the purchase price of the land bought of K. Sewall be paid.
       The Secretary was instructed to place an advertisement for plans and specifications for the construction of the lake dam in each of the following papers: Dallas News, Houston Post and Marlin Democrat.  Said plans and specifications to be in the hands of the Secretary or presented to the Council on or before Monday, May 20, 1907, at 2 o'clock, p.m.
       Complaint of Geo. Woodland relative to bad condition of alley near his referred to street and alley committee.
       A resolution was passed unaninimously, expressing hearty appreciation of the Council for the unselfish and efficient efforts of B. C. Nettles for the past ten years as chief of the fire department.
       Secretary instructed to advertise for bids for cleaning timber etc., from lake property.
