A Critic on Corcoran.
-----

Miss Jane Corcoran on her last engagement in Marlin presented a very delightful comedy, entitled the "Freedom of Suzann," and it was of the kind that delighted the theatre goers, not only in Marlin, but through her whole routine in the circuit, and we must admit that even though she is ambitious, "Freedom of Suzann" would have pleased the audience that gathered at the Arlington opera house upon yesterday evening more than Ibsen's "A Doll's House" did.
The presentation of the so-called Shakespeare's equal was quite a great deal off.  True enough, Miss Corcoran showed her ability as an actress and true enough Brophy as "Torvald Helmer" was superb in his part, still this did not seem to please the audience in any way.  There seemed to be a missing link.  This was assured the writer by the interest that was taken in it.  I is a beautiful and and elevating classic, produced from a study of amn who spent a lifetime of 70 years in its authorship, and who is prided by the best writers of the East as the comparison of Shakespeare, and when the people who patronize the theatre of any town or city will see that it is a thing worth going and thinking over before saying that it was a "bum" show.
On last evening Miss Corcoran did not lack any of her good qualities as an actress. She was the whole show and it those who saw the performance will consider before passing an opinion, they will agree with the writer when he vouches the opinion that it was one of the most complete portrayal of talent ever given in Marlin, both from a classic and an artist's standpoint.
