COUNTY ROAD MINUTES.

Many Petitions Are Considered by
Commissioners' Court.

The application of Geo.
A. Hodges, Jr., granted for a second-class road, 40 feet in width, to run as
follows, to wit: Beginning on the Marlin and Cameron road at W. L.
Carter's S. W. corner; thence N. 60 E. with Bartlett's N. line to Bartlett's S.
E. corner; thence S 30 E. with Bartlett's line to McCreary N. line; thence 60 E.
to Marlin and Cedar Springs road; thence down said road to A. P. Jones N. line;
thence between W. J. Finks and A. P. Jones' land to river or old river; thence
up river to falls of the Brazos. Wm McKim, J. C. Peevey, M. A. Hayes, Geo.
Tomlinson and R. W. King be and are hereby appointed a jury to view and lay out
said described road in accordance with said application, and to the best
interest of the public, and make their report at the iext (sic) term of this
court, giving field notes, etc.
The application of R. B. Fore, et al.,
granted for a second-class road, 30 feet wide to run as follows, to wit:
Beginning at the Kosse and Bremond road about 200 yards south of Mustang Prairie
church at the S. W. Corner of the B. Z. Riddle tract; thence E. along the Riddle
line and the Mrs. W. Lewis N. line to the H. & T. C. R. R., across the same
along the N. line of the Geo. Hall place, and along the S. line of the Brooks
Lewis place to his S. E. corner; thence N. to Webster's S. W. corner; thence E.
along the lane between the said Webster and the Geo. Hall place to the Lewis
line, county line intersecting the Franklin road. R. B. Fore, F. B.
Bratton, B. L. Williams, W. N. Moore and R. A. Pamplin be and are hereby
appointed a jury view to lay out and describe said road in accordance with said
application.
The application of C. P. Schub for a
first-class road to run as follows, to-wit: Beginning in the
Marlin-Kosse road at the corner between the Henry Denson and Harvey Humphreys;
thence S. line with their line to the line of the Ben Moore tract; thence with
the line of the Ben Moore tract to his W. corner; thence N. to the N. E. corner
of the H. Rickelmann tract; thence W. to the line of Ellis Stuart's tract;
thence N. with Ellis Stuart's and Allen English's line to Allen English's N. E.
corner, Aaron Denson, Wm. Moore, Nero Moore, H. B. Broadus, and C. P. Schuh be
and are hereby appointed a jury view to lay out and describe the same.
The petition of H. S. Hanslee, et al.,
granted to establish a first-class road; 60 feet wide, as follows: to-wit:
Beginning at S. W. corner of the P. A. Clark and S. E. corner of the Dr. Pope
tracts; thence N. about 420 yards to the N. E. corner of Pope's tract; thence W.
about 125 yards to S. E. corner of the Parish tract, now being owned by McCord
and Freeman; thence N. between Clark and Farish tracts about 420 yards to the S.
W. corner of the Widow Gott's tract; thence N. between Farish and Gott's tracts,
about 440 yards to N. E. corner of the Parish field; thence W. 430 yards to
interesect (sic) with Rowena avenue and Greer street in the town of Rosebud.
M. F. Jackson, J. R. Howard, Sam Crosby, W. W. Goodwin and W. J. Brewer are
appointed a jury of view to lay out and describe said road.
The petition of B. H. Rice, et al., granted
to establish a second-class road, 40 feet wide, as follows: Beginning at a
point in the Kosse-Bremond road where the line of the J. C. Walker survey of 231
acres and the J. H. Davidson survey of 220 acres crosses said road; thence N.
60, crossing the H. & T. C., right of way to the N. E. corner of the said J. H.
Davidson survey; thence S. 30 E. to the S. W. cornerof the Tobe tract of 142
acres; thence north. 60 E. 355 vrs. to B. H. Rice N. W. corner; thence S. 30 E.
with his said Rice's W. line passing his S. W. corner, and continuing in the
same course, passing the S. ine (sic) of Carpenter league at 2375 vrs; thence to
the road leading into Robertson county, known as the Mustang Prairie and Post
Oak church road. T. J. Miller, J. W. Yates, B. Z. Riddle, W. M. Lyons and
E. Mabry are appointed a jury view to lay out and describe said road.
The petition of John Kahler, et al., to
establish a third-class road, 30 feet wide, as follows: Beginning at
public road at J. Kahler's S. W. corner and W. Shepard's line about one mile
between F. L. French's and G. Winkleman's, between L. Roth and G. Winkleman,
between P. G. Becker and G. Winkleman, and intersecting the Cameron and Marlin
road. John Kahler, Rudolph Wensch and Wm. Smith are appointed a jury view
to lay out and describe said road.
The petition of James Parnell, et al.,
granted to establish a second-class road, 30 feet wide, as follows:
Beginning at the Highbank and Reagan road at the N. corner of J. F. Newberry's
place; thence running in E. direction to the J. E. Parnell corner, 30 feet W. of
the line between J. F. Newberry and J. F. Kelly; thence in E. direction between
the line of T. S. Kelly and Jas. Pannell, and intersecting the Duke road.
E. R. Boyles, T. S. Kelly, H. W. Word, C. Ward and W. Z. Burke are appointed a
jury view to lay out and describe said road.
The report of the jury view, heretofore
appointed in the matter of petition of L. E. Oltorf, et al, was adopted, for a
first-class road to 40 feet wide, to run as follows: Beginning at a point
where S. E. corner of the Sallie Dunbar tract of land intersects the W. line of
Commerce street; thence with the S. E. line of the Dunbar tract to a point for
corner; thence from said corner of the Dunbar tract in a W. direction to the E.
line of Bennett street, said road ordered opened up in accordance with the above
field notes. L. E. Oltorf appointed as overseer.
The petition of J. L. Lenoir, et al.,
granted, to establish a second-class road, 40 feet wide, as follows:
Begging at a point as road recently laid out on turnpike road, W of Marlin, just
beyond and west of the bridge crossing the old river bed, or McCullough slough;
thence in a S. direction, crossing the lands of Bargainier's and Mrs. Annie
Spencer's along the W. margin of said old river bed in Mrs. Annie E. Spencer's
land; thence in a W. direction on Highland to the E. line of Geo. W. Murrell's
plantation, the old Shield's farm; thence with its E. line and Mrs. Spencer's W.
line S. to Mrs. Humphreys land; thence along Mrs. Humphrey's and one of
Murrell's lines W. to their joint corner; thence S. with another of their lines
to the lands now farmed by John Ward, and from his corner, along such route as
heretofore laid out, or in such other land lines and affecting the lands of W.
A. Reed, Bartlett heirs or Mrs. S. K. Bartlett, M. J. Finks, T. E. Battle, Robt.
Black, B. C. Nettles, or J. A. Martin, and the lands of the club house, along
most available route to the falls of the Brazos at and above, or north of the
old river bed or McCullough slough, R. S. McCoy, Walter Nettles, W. L. Falconer,
F. F. Green and L. E. Oltorf are appointed as a jury view to lay out and
describe said road.
The report of the jury view heretofore
appointed in the matter of petition of A. D. Flowers, et al., was adopted to
re-establish what was once a public road, same to be a third-class road,
beginning at S. E. corner of Andrew Koltz farm on the Bremond and Reagan road,
near where the old Primitive Baptist church once stood; thence with the Koltz
and Maffitt league pasture, S. W. corner of Kiltz' land; thence with the line of
same 160 acre line throughs (sic) said pasture to line between Mrs. Allen and
the Bowen pasture to the Marlin-Calvert road, near the bridge on Alligator
creek. The said road ordered opened up in accordance with the above field
notes, and John Beckiavick appointed overseer.
It is ordered by the court that Fred
Hoffman, the overseer of the public road leading from the Howell crossing on
Deer creek to Chilton be and is hereby instructed to move the obstructions on
said road and repair the same near the N. E. corner of the Bartlett tract of
land and to discontinue the use of that portion of the road running across the
corner of said Bartlett tract and to establish said road on the line as
originally laid out when notified by J. J. Fulton, commisisioner. (sic)
