Convention of Negro Baptists.

Washington, D.C.; Sept. 11.--The national convention of the colored Baptist
church opened here today and will remain in session through the rest of this
week. The convention is the first one that the denomination has held in
several years and it is expected the attendance will exceed 5,000 delegates and
visitors from all over the country.
