The second day's sesson (sic) of the District Grand Lodge of A. K. of L. wa (sic) called on promptly at 9 a.m. by the district grand master, Rev. S. J. Dixon.  Quite a large delegation is here and much work is being done for the advancement of the race and the order.  The local committee under the direction of Prof. Childs, has everything necessary to make it pleasant for the delegation.  The committee on time and place reported that the next session of the Grand Lodge meet in the city of Rockdale. The same was adopted.  The Grand Lodge then took recess for noon.  At 2 p.m. the delegates reassembled and got down to work.  Rev. A. L. Sledge of Chappell Hill was directed by the district G. M. to conduct the memorial services.  Rev. Sledge conducted the divine service.  The following deaths were reported for the year:
Brothers:  M. S. Franklin and J. W. Watson; Sisters Mary Brown and Emma Williams; all of Tyler.  Eulogistic remarks were made by the following members; H. Williams, Mrs. Augusta Pettigrew, Mrs. Lucy Ware, F. G. Watson, R. B. Orum, Mrs. Josie McCuing and Mrs. Texana Brooks.
The committee on temperance and the condition of the country reported and the same was adopted.  The district G. M. made his annual address.  It was an able document.  It was adopted with the exception of the recommendations, which were referred to the proper committee.
The following visitors were introduced to the Grand Lodge: Prof. A. Ragland, Mrs. C. L. Humber and W. A. Redwine.  The Grand Lodge took recess till 8 p.m.
Promptly at 8 o'clock the delegates and friends assembled at the First Baptist church to listen to the program arranged by the local committee.  Music by the choir; invocation by Rev. Jackson; welcome address by L. S. Simmons.  The address was indeed an able one.  The response by D. D. Evans was highly received.  Welcome address on behalf of local lodge by J. H. Childs; resone (sic) by Mrs. Ware of Tyler.  Both were well received.  Miss Augusta Pettigrew read a paper which was strong and logical.  The annual sermon was then preached by Rev. D. F. Taylor of Tyler.  The sermon showed that much preparation had been made.
A collection of $11.00 was then taken.  Mrs. Costil of Bryan was introduced and spoke in the interest of her Rescue Home.  She was given $2.40 for the home.
