Smith - Jones Wedding

At the beautiful to the bride's parents, Wednesday night Mr. Earle Cardwell
Smith and Miss Anna Paul Jones were united in the holy bonds of matrimony.
The decoration of the house tastily carried out in a green and white color
scheme, presented a most charming picture, adding very effectively to the beauty
of all and to the pleasure of those in attendance.
Promptly at the hour appointed, eight-thirty, the sweet melody of Mendelsohn's
"Wedding March" sweetly rendered by Mrs. F. M. Burkhead, announced to the
expectant guests the arrival of the bridal party, just prior to which "The Crown
of Love," sung in her full and sympathetic voice by Miss Louise Clarkson, was
appreciated and enjoyed by every one.
Preceeding the bridal party, Mary Louise Allen and Irene Allen bore white
ribbons marking a pathway for their procession. The bride's maids, Misses Mary
Goodrich, Annie Chilton, Louise Finks, Allice Goodrich, Sallie Payton, Katie
Dupree, Madeline Bartlett and Rosalis Battle were dressed in white with bride's
roses arranged at right and left, forming most lovely aisle for advance of bride
and groom, attended by maid of honor, Miss Myrtle Smith, dressed in white with
bride roses.
The bride attired in white crepe de chine over teffeta, wearing veil caught with
crescent of pearls, the gift of the groom, and bearing lovely cluster of bride
roses, was the admired of all.
After the ceremony, by Rev. H. H. Hotchkiss a reception was held, following
which refreshments consisting of olives salted almonds, cheese straws, chicken
salad, ice cream and cake were served.
After an evening of pleasure to everyone and with many congratulations and
wishes o happiness for the newly wedded couple, the guests departed, many
expecting to meet them again at the pretended hour of their from the city.
However, the larger part were disappointed by the coming of the intended victims
for they had other plans.
The 6:50 Central Thursday bore away the happy couple without the much dreaded
shower of rice, old shoes, &c.
Many, many friends join hearts in wishing for them a life of happiness, tilled
with its richest, fullest blessings, having few of its sorrows and
disappointments, without one single thorn.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith will spend a few days in San Antonio when they will be at in
Marlin.
