Late Saturday afternoon a shooting and a foot race caused some excitment
among the population along the "Butler Row".
Jim Watts and Vinie Williams, two dsuky denizens, were the participants
in the fraxas that disturbed the peace of the sable colored inabitants of
the row.
Jim was a caller at Vinnie's house and the two became involved in a
quarrel when it is alleged, Jim slapped Vinie in the face. This enraged
Vinie and she went for her gun. Four shots were fired none of which took
effect in Jim's fast fleeing form, the presumption being that he outran the
bullets.
