First Meeting In The New Year

    The first meeting of the Ladies Social Club for the year and first in three weeks, account holidays and teachers meeting, was held Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. W. H. Allen.
    All the members were "glad to meet again" after the lapse of time since last meeting.
    The committee on charity reported having visited and given presents to the needy during the holidays.
    Report of the committee in charge of the concert given for the benefit of the fire department showed receipts and expenses as follows:
    Receipts, $40.00; expenses making stage $5.00, moving piano $5.00, advertising $1.00, tickets 50 cts, music $3.50; total $15.00, leaving balance of $25.90 which goes to the fire department.
    After the business was disposed of an hour was spent in having a social time.  The hostess, assisted by Mrs. W. W. Allen and Misses Gussie Lee Boyle and Marie Louise Allen, served a two course luncheon of chicken salad, wafers, olives, salted almonds, pickles, Ambrosia, angel food and fruit cakes.
    Guests of the club: Mesdames Laney of Lockhart, Eddins and Parker of Marlin.
    The club will meet next with Mrs. Mollie Bartlett at 3 o'clock Wednesday.
