PUBLIC LIBRARY WINS.

Has A Lead Of Eight Thousand Votes
Over School.

     The Marlin public library association wins the handsome library offered by a number of Marlin merchants to the institution receiving the highest number of votes in the contest.
     The contest has been very spirited from the start and has furnished considerable diversion. The race has been between the Library association and the Public school Library. The last count up to Friday last, showed the school to be ahead but the votes cast from Friday until Monday at 12 o'clock changed the result in favor of the Public Library.
     The committee began canvassing the returns last night and this morning announced the following result:

     Editor Marlin DEMOCRAT: - We your committee beg leave to report that we have canvassed the returns for the voting contest of the Merchant's Free Gift Library, and ommitting the names of contestants receiving fewer than 1000 votes, find the results as follows:

     In accordance with the terms of the contest, we declare the library awarded to the Marlin Public Library awarded to the Marlin Public Library.
