MILITARY NOTES.
Captain George H. Carter has received a communication from the adjutant general
acknowledging the prompt services of the Light Guard on April 8th. There
is no appropriation to pay the company for its services beyond actual expenses
for the day, although it would seem that they should be entitled to the same pay
as peace officers in the discharge of their duty.

The Guard has received General Order No. 78, granting permission to the
company to attend the Dallas reunion in full uniform, equipped and with arms,
without expense to the state. Each commanding officer to make close
inspection to see that his men do not carry blank or ball cartridges and to be
held strictly responsible for the conduct and discipline of his men, and to
report, upon their arrival in Dallas, to Brigadier General A. P. Wozencraft,
commanding 2nd brigade.

Maj. J. F. Nicols,
assistant inspector general, will inspect the Clark Light Guards in May, having
been assigned that duty in the 2nd regiment.
