JOHN STEWART
DAY IN COURT.

----------

A jury in justice court on Friday set a new standard in the matter of misdemeanors, particularly those of a nature of the one on trial. The defendant was John Stewart, a coal black youth. The evidence at the trial developed that John is the son of Jane Stewart and that he was raised on the streets of Marlin. He was charged with disturbing the peace by the use of loud and vociferous language in a public place to and concerning a negro woman. The jury heard the evidence, considered the same, and entered a fine of $25.00 and costs against John. A motion for a new trial was made by the defendant's attorney.
