GUESS HE WILL BE GOOD NOW.

     On hearing of a "linen shower" given to one of the "fair sex," a young man innocently said: "I wish someone would give me one." It was the eve of his 21st birthday, and the remark came at an opportune moment, for a few "sister friends" were trying to evolve a surprise for him.
Friday, the 15th instant, dawned bright and clear and from every direction, Hunter Clark looked "of age."
     According to a pre-arranged plan one friend after another called that evening to wish him "good luck." These friends were prevailed upon to remain for tea. Miss Ida Martin also claims the same 15th for her birthday, and ably assisted the young man in presiding at the table. Hot biscuit and fried chicken were fast disappearing when over our young hero's head there suddenly showered from an "unknown somewhere" packages deftly tied with the daintiest of ribbon. Linen! linen! linen! and all made to order, for the "No. 42" fit well the youth of "21." The shower was no less complete than his surprise.
     Now came the "Twin Sister's" turn to be "took in." These good folks gathered here were joined by others who, much to Miss Martin's surprise, led the way to the of Capt. J. A. Martin. Here the hours sped merrily away. Ice cold water melons were a good substitute for a linen shower, and all enjoyed them. After hearty congratulations were showered upon both the young people, all left, having spent most enjoyable evening.
