TWO DEMONSTRATION FARMS
~~~~~
To Be Established
Near Marlin
~~~~~

     Mr. A. G. Evans, of Houston, j representing the department of agricultural, came to Marlin Tuesday afternoon for the purpose of consulting with the business men relative to establishing a government demonstration farm near Marlin.
     A number of business men met with Mr. Evans in the offices of Curry & Oltorf at 5:30 and heard the plans of the department as outlined by Mr. Evans. After hearing the plans explained fully, it was proposed by the gentlemen present that two farms instead of one, be established. One on the black land and the other in the bottom, so as to show the value of the demonstration work in the two different classes of soil. This was readily agreed to by Mr. Evans.
     The farms will consist of from 10 to 15 acres each, and committees were appointed to locate them. The party whose farm is chosen will agree to work the same exactly as the department instructs him and make written weekly reports of the progress of the same to the department, the owner not having any expense to bear for fertilizers, seed, etc, which are to be furnished by the business men's committee.
     Speaking of his work Mr. Evans stated that he was one of sixty agents now canvassing the boll weevil district in the interest of the plan. Farms are to be established at or near all the principal cotton centers in the state, and it is confidently believed that the value of improved methods, in cotton culture, will be fully demonstrated if the instructions are fully carried out, they are made from time to time.
