EXCITEMENT AT BRUCEVILLE.
-----
McLennan County Citizens Make A
Peculiar Find.
-----

Bruceville, Tex., Oct. 9.--Ten or twelve men are now in Cow Bayou botton one mile north of here, digging for buried treasures.  There is much excitement over it.  They struck an old Indian burial ground and numerous skeletons of the noble red men have been unearthed.  Beads, arrow heads and numerous trinkets of the Indian race have been found.  Large rocks with letters, marks and signs have been dug up, which were from five to eight feet in the ground.
A copper plate with numerous letters, signs, etc., was found in an old tree by J. E. Kirk and this little plate has caused all the excitement.  It will take an expert to interpret this copper chart, and up to this time we are of the opinion that it has not been correctly interpreted.  These Indians have probably been buried here for one hundred years, as the oldest inhabitants know nothing about it.
