A PLEASANT EVENING
~~~~~
On Tuesday evening last the Ladies Guild of the Episcopal church, with a few
friends, enjoyed a few social hours at the residence of Mrs. Tom Sims.
Six tables with games requiring not much premeditation,
but immediate action engaged the attention of young and old - no, not the old,
for all were young that night. Some were laboriously stringing popcorn; the.
sober and sedate were gaily piercing for peanuts, strong thumbs were deftly
threading needles; with a pin a few serious minded were cheerfully fishing for
heats. After indulging in those amusements, all were invited into the dining
room, there to partake of excellently prepared refreshments.
Roses decorated the table and from every side their
loving welcome came as a fit companion to our genial hostess. Too quickly the
time came to say good night, and all hoped that they might soon enjoy another
such evening.
