EARLY MORNING FIRE.
-----
Family Barely Escaped With Their Lives.
-----

The residence of County Clerk R. S. McCoy was destroyed by fire at an early hour Monday morning.
The entire contents of the house were destroyed and the family barely escaped without injury.  The fire is supposed to have caught from a lighted lamp in the bed room.  When it was discovered the room was ablaze and there was little time for the family to get out.
There was a hitch somewhere in the fire alarm system and the house was about burned down when the department arrived, though they protected the residence of Mr. Peyton which adjoined and was in danger of destruction for a time.
The McCoy was a lovely one, having completed a few months ago, and an ideal family residence.  The insurance on the house and contents was $3700.
