THE MARLIN DEMOCRAT
Thirteenth Year - Number  (Missing)
Marlin, Texas, Thursday, May 15, 1902
-----
FOR COURT OF CIVIL APPEALS.

Judge Sam Streetman, who was recently appointed by Gov. Sayers in the place of Judge W. Collard, deceased is receiving hearty support in his race for the remainder of Judge Collard's unexpired term.  Judge Streetman was not an applicant for the appointment, but his name was presented to the governor by a large number of prominent lawyers throughout the state, and he was appointed by Governor Sayers after thorough investigation of the applicants and others available for the place.  He is well known throughout the state and is regarded by the profession as an exceptionally strong civil lawyer.
He comes of good old Texas stock, his maternal grandfather, George Green, having served with distinction in the battle of San Jacinto.  He graduated with first honors of his class at Southwestern University at Georgetown in 1888.  He was licensed to practice law in April 1889.  He at once formed a partnership with T. S. Henderson, and this law firm of Henderson and Streetman continued until he was elected
county judge of Milam county in November 1894.  He declined a re-election, and resumed the practice of his profession as a member of the firm of Henderson, Streetman and Freeman, and has ever since been actively engaged in the courts.
He was married to Miss Flora McIver on the 8th day of December 1892.
Judge Streetman has many friends in this county who are actively supporting him, and the indications are that the governor's actions in appointing him will be endorsed by the people of this district.

ENDORSEMENT OF BAR.

Sam Streetman, of Cameron, Texas, to the Associate Justice of the Court of Civil Appeals for the Third Supreme Judicial District of Texas, and pledge to him our support and influence for the nomination for said position in the democratic primaries of this county.
