COURT HOUSE NOTES.

-----

WHAT IS GOING ON AT THE COUNTY'S

CAPITOL.

The force in the sheriff's office are sending out the commissions to the various road overseers appointed by the commissioners court.

Ben Taylor, the district clerk, complains of distressingly dull business in his court.

Judge Howard, the county treasurer, is recovering from an inconvenient, not to say unpleasant attack of jaundice.  The judge attributes his quick recovery largely to the efficacy of the hot baths here.

County Clerk W C Rogers has purchased the residence property of J. B. LeNoir in the W. S. Clark addition and he and his family will move thereof in a few days.  The price paid was $1400.

County Superintendent Eddins is a very busy man arranging the inner workings of his office on a systematic plan.  He has set apart Mondays and Saturdays for office days.  The other four he will visit the schools.

The commissioners court has approved the final report of the retiring treasurer, Col. W. D. Gaines.  The cash of the county has all been accounted for to the last dime, and turned over to the incoming treasurer.

The court this week approved the official bonds of Tax Collector Reeves, P. R. Stripling, (j)ustice of the peace of precinct No. 7, and W. A. Martin, justice of the peace of precinct No. 8.

Constable Theo Peebles has returned from Waco where he went as a witness in the examining trial of the parties charged with stealing the mules from the Miller farm some time back.

Sheriff John Greer went to Highbank Tuesday night to investigate the shooting at the conductor of an I. & G. N. freight train.  No definite information could be obtained but the sheriff has a "lead" that the believes will develop the facts in the case.
